The Contortionist

Twisted limbs of a gnarled and stunted oak sprawl in all directions in the remains of this ancient woodland in a remote corner of Dartmoor known as Black-a-tor Copse.

Anchored to granite boulders, known as clitter, these dwarf oaks survive punishing rain and high winds which combine to stunt their growth and deform them into wondrous exotic, if mildly disturbing, forms.
